For his debut on the sticker MoJazz, vibraphonist Lionel Hampton, the bygone has been described by several groups, some more satisfactory than others. Keyboardist Patrice Rushen’s by ruins funky rendition of "Flying Home" and many of the other songs (the inspid "Jazz Me" and Chaka Khan have in "Gossamer Wings") are little more than disposable. It is wagerer collaboration with Hampton’s band, Tito Puente on "Do not hector ’bout a Thing" and his original "Mojazz", although Grover Washington, Jr., sounds like it’s self-governing pilot to "Another Part of Me ". Overall this disc so it can be most passed by. ~ Scott Yanow
